Announcements for the 2020 PC Science Olympiad.

Check this page regularly for updates, as all updates and information are posted here for team coach's. Announcements will NOT be emailed. It is the responsibility of the coach to check for updates and information.

March 08, 2020: Results are available from the Georgia Science Olympiad website. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the State Director and/or Mark Hollier.

March 08, 2020: Please complete the evaluation form and send it mhollier@gsu.edu . We really need these completed to be able to make improvements and be able to use as support for hosting future events.

March 06. 2020: For the Astronomy event, the NASA JS9 website will not be required for the event. The was updated in the PC rules as optional, but the event does not utilize this site.

March 05, 2020: Quiz bowl format and topic is available here.

March 04, 2020: Design logs for the Detector Building event are required to be left with our event supervisors when they leave their time slot for that event. Our event supervisors need time to review these to score the event. They can be picked up by one of the team members later in the day. The pick up time will be 2pm at the Science Department Office (CC-2167).

March 02, 2020: Team coach names and email addresses have been submitted to the system responsible for emergency notifications. This is to meet part of the Minors on Campus policy relating to the written policy on Emergency Notifications. Team coaches may (or may not) get an email confirming they have been added to this system. It should only send emergency notifications on 03/06/20 and 03/07/20 if any are sent out through the GSU emergency notification system (Panther Alerts) on those days.

February 27, 2020: The impound location for Protein Modeling will be C-1180.

February 24, 2020: The time frame for signup has been extended until Friday 02/28/20 at 11:59pm. This cannot be extended any further due to the closeness of the event. Some teams have not signed up, so please do so ASAP.

February 24, 2020: Some schools have not sent me the team forms yet. I have emailed you again about this on 02/17/20 and announcement shave been made on this page. We need these forsm ASAP, including the excel file of the class roster. Schools who do not return the forms will not be allowed to compete or enter / remain on campus. The final deadline for these forms is Friday 02/28/20. Make sure you follow the directions on the team forms page.

February 24, 2020: The schedule has been updated to show room numbers.

February 17, 2020: Reminder that the signup for each event is on the Georgia Science Olympiad website and the signup closes on 02/18/20 at 11:59pm.

February 17, 2020: Team forms received are being processed. This will take some time. If we find problems, we will email the team coach. Please check your email regularly. A few coaches did not send the school roster form with the other forms. We need this ASAP (the actual excel file) to allow us to check any of the forms for the students. Without the school roster, we have no idea of who could be attending and whether they should have forms (minors) or not (not minors).

February 15, 2020: For an unknown reason, some team coaches can send the team forms to the PCScienceOlympiad@gsu.edu email address but others cannot. If it does not send it is reported as undelivered to the sender and I can confirm that it does not show up in the email inbox. At this point, I do not know if/when this will be fixed. Please either list mhollier@gsu.edu as well as the PCScience Olympiad address or just send to the mhollier@gsu.edu email address.

February 14, 2020: When sending the team forms, please send the excel file for the team roster form. The forms filled out for each student should be sent as 4 pdf files, but the school roster file should be the excel file. If you cannot send all files in a single email, then send them in mutiple emails with each email indicating your school name.

February 12, 2020: Reminder that teams competing at the Perimeter College Science Olympiad event are required to complete forms for each student participant and for the team as a whole. The forms are available on the Team forms page. These forms need to be emailed to Mark Hollier by 02/15/20 at PCScienceOlympiad@gsu.edu . Directions for how to complete these forms are on the team forms page. Students who do not have a complete set of forms will not be allowed to compete at our event or remain on campus.

February 04, 2020: The School Roster file has been updated to remove the "pickup authorization" column. This is no longer a required document the college needs. If you have started filling out the school roster form, then just leave that column blank. If you have not started, please download the version again before completing it.

February 03, 2020: The posted schedule is now considered finalized barring any emergencies. No changes have been made since it was posted on 12/16/19.

If you know now that you will have any students with physical disabilities, please advise us now before we begin scheduling rooms for the events. Please note that we may not offer all (or any) of the trial events, depending upon the availability of personnel and rooms, since these are not required events. This will be decided as we develop the final schedule and you will be advised of our decision. The rules for the trial events may be found on the national web site.

Jan 28, 2020: When you come, please plan to park in Student Lot #6 (near Buildings “CG and CB"). This lot can be accessed from Memorial Drive (there is a sign, but it may be easily overlooked) or Lots #4 and 5 near building CF (off of Memorial College Drive).

Dec 16, 2019: Tentative schedule is now available on the event information and schedule page.

Oct 13, 2019: Right now, we are planning on scheduling events (including registration) in buildings "N", "C", "D", G (Gym), and the JCLRC (Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center). Building "N" is the Student Center and that is where students will probably want to gather when they are not involved in events. The awards ceremony will most likely be in the Auditorium of the JCLRC (the library). It is a fairly small campus with covered walkways, so we hope that you will be able to navigate the campus easily.
