TEAS Tutoring Sessions
The TEAS is a standardized test that many Pre-Allied Health students have to take to gain entrance into their career program. They cover many topics (see websites below for a list of topics and study material) and this tutoring series aims to generally go over the A&P topics. It is also a great refresher of A&P and is good for hearing the information from Perimter College A&P courses in summary format (which can help students currently taking the A&P courses).
The sessions are free and open to any GSU student and do not require any registration. Just turn up. You will scan a QR code attendance each session you attend. If you enter your iCollege username on the attendance (there is a box for that), then you will be added to an iCollege site to access handouts and see announcements of tutoring sessions offered by other faculty. All students are removed from this iCollege site at the end of each semester. When you have attended, wait about a day, then search for "TEAS" in the course search box in iCollege and you should see it listed. Once you have accessed it once, it should stay on your main page when you log in to iCollege.
Tutoring sessions from Dr. Mark Hollier will cover as much of the A&P content listed for each session (see schedule below) as possible based on questions / discussions initiated by attending students.
There will be no streamed version (Webex, Teams, etc.) for sessions held at the Learning and Tutoring Center (LTC) or on campus locations.
Sessions are not recorded.
For more information, please contact Dr. Mark Hollier (mhollier@gsu.edu)
Important information from the Georgia State University Perimeter College Nursing Department:
- Students should take their first attempt on the TEAS seriously.
- That means NOT taking it before studying to see how well you do!
- Getting a better score on an earlier attempt makes you more competitive in the selection process of applicants.
- When students have the same score on the TEAS, the attempt number matters. Example:
- Two students get the same score on the TEAS.
- Student 1 scored 90% on their first attempt.
- Student 2 scored 90% on their second attempt.
- Student 1 will be ranked higher than student 2 in the selection process.
Sessions are held in conjunction with:
Please complete a TEAS practice test so you know what you need to study the most and have questions ready at the appropriate sessions. The study area of MasteringA&P has TEAS and HESI practice questions.
