Announcements for the 2016 PC Science Olympiad.

Check this page regularly for updates, as all updates and information are posted here for team coach's. Announcements will NOT be emailed. It is the responsibility of the coach to check for updates and information.

Mar 06, 2016: Thanks to all the teams and their coaches that made the Perimeter College Sciecne Olympiad a wonderful event for everyone. Congratulations to all teams and we all wish the teams advancing to the state championships success. The results and photo's from the days events are now posted online here.

Mar 06, 2016: Thanks to all event coordinators for a successful Science olympiad! The list of student volutneers can be found here.

Mar 04, 2016: An update has been added to the electric vehicles rules for PC Science Olympiad. A question was sent yesterday regarding the use of laptops for starting an electric vehicle. The updated rules page for this explains why using a laptop is not allowed. In summary, it has been stated since last year that no laptops are allowed for any event, and the event specific parameteres state no remote control of the device. if you have questions in future years, please send them much earlier than two days before the event, so i can consult other tournament directors, the state directors, and national rules. Doing this last minute means quick decisions based on the information we have.

Mar 03, 2016: The SSID for wireless access on the day will be "Olympiad". No password will be required.

Mar 03, 2016: The schedule was updated for Protein modelling to idetnify which room the impound will be for both time slots and which room each time slot will go to for the actual event in the schedule.

Mar 03, 2016: The sign-up genius website was closed at 09:05 on Thursday 03/03/16. Changes after that point will not be valid, these are the final schedules (some teams have tried to make changes after that point and they are NOT accepted; it was made clear that the last date for making changes was Wednesday 03/02/16). The event schedules based on that are now posted on the Online sign-up up for device events page.

Feb 29, 2016: Three more slots were added for the online sign-up for Electric Vechicle and for Wright Stuff.

Feb 26, 2016: Rules for electric vehicle have been updated on the PC specific event rules page. This is to address the issue of what happens if the vehicle hits the wall of the corridor during it's run.

Feb 24, 2016: Three more slots were added for the online sign-up for Bridge Building.

Feb 19, 2016: The Game On computer specifications have been posted on the PC specific event rules page.

Feb 19, 2016: Events that require use of the online sign-up still have open slots. Additional slots will not be added until these are filled. Do not wait until the last minute to sign-up for these events. Additional slots may not be added on the last day of sign-up (Wednesday March 2) if there are still some slots open prior to that date. If you attempt to sign-up at the last minute and other teams have filled these remaining slots, the sign-up will not be opened after the deadline, and your team(s) will not be able to compete in those events.

Feb 19, 2016: Room locations have been updated for the device events that were originally scheduled for the gym. They will be in the F building: Air Trajectory and Wright Stuff will be in F-0100, and Electric Vehicle will be in the corridor off from F-0100. Dimensions for these locations, along with images of the locations, are available on the PC specific event rules page.

Feb 17, 2016: The online sign-up for device events still has slots open for all events. I will be checking this frequently, and when/if they an event becomes full booked, i will add a few more spaces to allow teams who have not registered for an event to register. The online device sign-up will remain open until the Wednesday before the event. More information is located on the Online Sign-up for Device Events page (check this page regularly for updates!). You MUST register with the sign-up site before hand using the email address that you used when regsitered with the State Directors.

Feb 17, 2016: The team roster that each school team coach must complete for each team has been updated. Please download the new one and compete it ahead of time. Email the completed excel file to Mark.Hollier@gpc.edu three days prior to the event and bring a printed and signed copy with you on the day of the event.

Feb 17, 2016: The schedule has been updated. (i) Time slots assignments are listed per room for when they occur simultaneously. For Protein modeling which has two rooming running simultaneously, the two rooms are next to one another, and the event supervisors on the day will separate the teams out. (ii) The coaches room has been moved. It is still in the smae building, just moved to an different room. (iii) Unfortunately, our gym will be closed this year for refurbishment. We are still in the process of working out where to move the events that were listed for the gym. As soon as we know, it will be updated, and a new announcement will be posted stating this has been done. For wright stuff, when we have located the best alternative room to the gym, we will post dimensions for the event on the PC specific event rules page.

Jan 15, 2016: Georgia State University and Perimeter College recruiters will be on hand in the student center between 11am and 2pm and before the awards ceremony to talk about how students can become part of the #Pantherfamily and answer any questions.

Jan 15, 2016: The schedule has been updated with the "Game On" event being separated into two different time slots. Time slot 1 for Game On is now from 10am until 11am, and Time slot 2 for Game On is now from 11am to noon. The room for this event has also changed to C-2140. We are still working on ensuring the computers for this event work according to the event requirements, and as such changes to this event may occur again. I am hoping they won't change, but it is possible.

Dec 15, 2015: A confirmation email from signup genius at 10:21am stated all emails had been successfully processed. Everyone should be able to signup for device events now. I am not sure why it took so long this year to process, last year it was a little under 30 mins.

Dec 15, 2015: The signup genius site was made live and invites sent at 8:03am. Last year it took maybe 30 mins for the invites to be sent and the page to appear as live. Hopefully this year it will be quicker!

Dec 11, 2015: Please make sure you read the information on how the device signup times work this year on the online device signup page. This year, a new format is being tested for the device events. Slots are given for each hour based on the time limit for each event, with a specific number of slots for each hour. Teams will turn up at the start of that hour slot for which they signed up for. The teams will be processed in the order that they arrived. Once the teams for that hour are processed, the event supervisors will return at the start of the next hour time slot. Teams who are not present by the time the last team is processed for that hour will be disqualified, even if they return within that hour time slot. They will not be allowed to compete in a different time slot. Teams must be present at the start of the hour time slot, and remain until they have competed.

Dec, 11, 2015: The signup genius site will have 18 slots open for each device event. Once these have been filled, additional times will be added, but only once all time slots have been filled for that event. If there are open time slots for an event, then new ones will not be added until they are filled.

Dec 11, 2015: Clarification on swapping of times. The only events that team coaches can swap times are for the device events that use signupgenius. For all other events, you are only able to compete in the time slot designated for your team, these cannot be swapped between schools.

Dec 11, 2015: Schedule updated to remove Technical Problem Solving event (this was an error due to not deleting it from last year's schedule when this year's schedule was put together) and to add time slot information for the Fossils event.

Dec 10, 2015: Tentative schedule is now available on the event information and schedule page.

Dec 10, 2015: School time slot information published (Time Slot Assignments).

Dec 10, 2015: Sign-up genius site will be released on Tuesday Dec 15, 2015 at about 8am. Please see signup page for more information on changes to how this will work for this year's event.

Dec 10, 2015: Emails sent to team coaches.

Oct 26, 2015: Check the page for Georgia specific rules and GPC specific rules for events.

Oct 26, 2015: The online device sign-up will be made available before December 2015, and will remain open until the Wednesday before the event. More information is located on the Online Sign-up for Device Events page (check this page regularly for updates!). You MUST register with the sign-up site before hand using the email address that you used when regsitered with the State Directors.

Oct 26, 2015: Please use this Official Roster form to list your participants. Email the completed excel file to Mark.Hollier@gpc.edu three days prior to the event and bring a printed and signed copy with you on the day of the event.

Oct 26, 2015: We are already working hard to prepare for this event, as I am sure you are also. If you know now that you will have any students with physical disabilities, please advise us now before we begin scheduling rooms for the events. Please note that we may not offer all (or any) of the trial events, depending upon the availability of personnel and rooms, since these are not required events. This will be decided as we develop the final schedule and you will be advised of our decision. The rules for the trial events may be found on the national web site.

Oct 26, 2015: When you come, please plan to park in Student Lot #6 (near Buildings “CG and CB"). This lot can be accessed from Memorial Drive (there is a sign, but it may be easily overlooked) or Lots #4 and 5 near building CF (off of Memorial College Drive).

Oct 26, 2015: Right now, we are planning on scheduling events (including registration) in buildings "N", "C", "D", G (Gym), and the JCLRC (Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center). Building "N" is the Student Center and that is where students will probably want to gather when they are not involved in events. The awards ceremony will most likely be in the Auditorium of the JCLRC (the library). It is a fairly small campus with covered walkways, so we hope that you will be able to navigate the campus easily.
